Bob and Darlene Donaher of John Gordon Construction have made a contribution of $25,000 to the "Our Hospital, Our Future" campaign.

"Our Hospital, Our Future" is the Foundation's fundraising campaign to build a new hospital. The campaign's goal is to raise $12 million of the projected costs of $59 million to redevelop the Cornwall Community Hospital. The remainder of the funds will come from municipal and provincial governments.

The Cornwall Community Hospital is the primary acute care facility for a region encompassing the Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengary, as well as the Mohawk community of Akwesasne. Last year, inpatient and day surgery cases numbered 15,000 and more than 100,000 emergency cases were handled. With a staff of 1,100, the Cornwall Community Hospital is the largest employer in Cornwall.

Long Sault Water Treatment Plant

We are currently involved, as a sub trade, in the construction of a multi million dollar water treatment plant along the St. Lawrence River on Island 17 near Long Sault, Ontario. We are responsible for the installation of any and all wood framing, the installation of all rigid insulation, the supply and installation of the Standing Seam Roof System, the supply and installation of all metal wall cladding complete with soffit, facia and all necessary trims. This project consists of three phases and we are involved in all three.

Ocean & Fisheries

This fall we will begin work on a new Metering Station on Lake St. Francis in the St. Lawrence River near Summerstown, Ontario. This project consists of the demolition of the existing building and the erection of a new steel structure completed inside and out.

Farm Construction

This past summer, one of our construction crews led by working Foreman Colin Martin, completed the erection of a 10,000 square foot pig barn in the Apple Hill, Ontario area. This barn is a wood framed structure complete with pre engineered roof trusses, pre finished metal roofing and pre finished metal wall cladding

Historical Restorations

This year we worked in conjunction with the Ontario Heritage Foundation to complete a restoration to the 220 year old Bethune-Thompson House in Williamstown, Ontario. This project involved carpentry, painting and stucco repairs. The Pebble Dash Stucco repairs were completed as per the original specifications of 1784. Another heritage project completed was an addition and renovation to a century farmhouse in North Lancaster, Ontario. We will be starting another restoration soon to the Avonbloom property west of Williamstown, Ontario. This house was built in 1864 and we will be renovating the back work shop into living space and also the exterior to match the original.

ROOFING

Our roofing division, under the leadership of Supervisor Wayne Derochie, was very busy this year. Some of the commercial and industrial projects we completed this year were repairs or total replacements at the following: Kraft Canada, Catholic School Board, P.C.I. Chemicals, Cornwall Community Hospitals, Conseil des Ecoles Publiques, L.C.B.O., St. Lawrence Park Commission, Bank of Montreal, Lafromboise Group just to name a few. We were also able to complete numerous residential projects. We are very proud of a 44,000 square foot metal roof restoration we completed for R.O.L. Manufacturing using a GMX high performance rubber liquid membrane. Our supplier is now using this roof as a showcase roof in all their seminars across North America. Our year is still not done as we have many projects left to do, some of which are as follows: Marie de la Ferre Apartments, B.A.S.F., Cornwall Mazda, Long Sault Arena, Dynamic Closures, Bingley Steel, St. Mathews Presbyterian Church, Catholic School Board and numerous residential roofs. Please note that because of our quality workmanship we are able to work with our suppliers to offer our clients roofs with warranties ranging from ten years to thirty years

Kraft, Canada

Work in ongoing at both plants, Ingleside and Williamstown for renovations, carpentry, masonry and flooring work.
